UNRWA school encourages running over Jews with cars

Elder of Zion (Aug 23) — An UNRWA school in Syria has featured posters encouraging Arabs to kill Jews with cars.

The Rameh school in Damascus has included this poster, which translates to “car intifada – run over”

Iran’s Rouhani gets his way on nuclear weapons

88ad8d94a59945f5834389217a9e0004-88ad8d94a59945f5834389217a9e0004-0By Yehuda Yaakov for the Boston Globe JULY 20, 2015

For more than a decade I have had the opportunity to be intimately involved with the Iranian crisis. So it’s probably understandable how alarming I find the P5+1 nuclear deal with Iran.

The agreement reached between the P5+1 and Iran makes far-reaching concessions in all areas meant to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons capability. It does not adequately limit Iran’s research and development capabilities. It does not exclude to a sufficient degree Iran’s weaponization activity. It does not ensure a tight enough monitoring and verification mechanism.

The deal impairs Israel’s national security. It prominently bears the fingerprints of perhaps the most intriguing Iranian figure of this 13-year crisis: Hassan Rouhani. President of Iran since August 2013, it was Rouhani who originally devised his country’s nuclear negotiating strategy when Tehran’s illicit nuclear activities were uncovered in August 2002. It is Rouhani who shepherded the crisis to the conclusion he always sought.

Rouhani, a long-standing member of the Islamic Republic’s inner circle, has had a career that mirrors the strategic development of his country and indicates a close familiarity with its military nuclear program. The previous highlight of this career was the period between 1989 and 2005, when he led Iran’s National Security Council. During that time — especially from 2003 to 2005 — he repeatedly maneuvered the international community to ensure the program’s advancement. He did this mostly by exploiting his interlocutors’ strong desire to resolve the crisis — and by reaching agreements he would later break.

When Rouhani campaigned for president, his platform was explicitly based on a belief that his strategy had worked, and that Iran would find its way out of sanctions if only he were elected and given the necessary leeway. It is therefore no surprise that within hours of the deal, he tweeted:

[This admin believes in dialogue. I myself headed the very first #nuclear

negotiating team back in 2003–when no sanctions had been imposed.

4:32 AM – 14 Jul 2015]

This was apparently Rouhani’s way of saying: I promised, I delivered.

Indeed, he has.

Rouhani is known not only for his adept handling of nuclear negotiations; among experts, he is also famous for bragging about his success afterwards. So it was in late 2004, when he revealed a dozen or so areas of concrete advancement made in the nuclear program even as Iran was supposed to be fulfilling its negotiated commitments.

It was the same on the day this new agreement was announced, when he publicly made it clear that Iran had achieved the four objectives it set out to attain: advancing its nuclear activities, lifting sanctions, canceling UN Security Council resolutions, and closing the UN’s Iranian nuclear file. In other words, to paraphrase Rouhani, the international community is removing sanctions, while Iran is keeping its nuclear program.

One more word about Rouhani: He’s no pacifist. He hasn’t shied away from expressing public support for Bashar al-Assad, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, Hamas, and the lot. He has also threatened Israel, and more than once.

So it was no surprise to see this tweet on the day many in the international community were celebrating the supposed dawn of a new era:

[To our neighbours: Do not be deceived by the propaganda of the

warmongering Zionist regime. #Iran & its power will translate into

your power 5:06 AM – 14 Jul 2015]

Rouhani understands the weight of this “power” and knows all too well what Iran’s military nuclear program is for. He is also aware that nuclear capabilities in Tehran’s hands will undermine regional security in the Middle East.

Israel knows this too.

Iran continues to seek our destruction. We are not bound by this deal with Tehran. Plain and simple.

Reported cases of Christians killed for their faith around the world doubled in 2013

muslim-persec-thumb-500xauto-4563“Survey: Reported Christian ‘martyr’ deaths doubled in 2013,” from Reuters, January 8:

LONDON — Reported cases of Christians killed for their faith around the world doubled in 2013 from the year before, with Syria accounting for more than the whole global total in 2012, according to an annual survey.

Open Doors, a non-denominational group supporting persecuted Christians worldwide, said on Wednesday it had documented 2,123 “martyr” killings, compared with 1,201 in 2012. There were 1,213 such deaths in Syria alone last year, it said.

“This is a very minimal count based on what has been reported in the media and we can confirm,” said Frans Veerman, head of research for Open Doors. Estimates by other Christian groups put the annual figure as high as 8,000.

The Open Doors report placed North Korea at the top of its list of 50 most dangerous countries for Christians, a position it has held since the annual survey began 12 years ago. Somalia, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan were the next four in line.

The United States-based group reported increasing violence against Christians in Africa and said radical Muslims were the main source of persecution in 36 countries on its list.

“Islamist extremism is the worst persecutor of the worldwide church,” it said….

Iran Infographic: Good Deal vs Bad Deal

Arutz Sheva (Nov 22) — Josh Block, CEO and President of The Israel Project (TIP), has started an information campaign to combat the risks of the Iran nuclear talks being conducted in Geneva.

Block writes that “to help educate and fight a dangerous deal, TIP has created (an) infographic…and a website laying out the terrible impact of deal that would breathe life into Iran’s economy while leaving the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism with the capability to build nuclear weapons.”

A spokesman for EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said Thursday that the Geneva talks, which started again Wednesday, were “substantial and detailed.”

While New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman has attacked the “Israel lobby” of preventing a deal with Iran, saying “I’m certain this comes less from any careful consideration of the facts and more from…(doing) whatever the Israel lobby asks them,” TIP’s infographic offers detailed figures and analysis of Iran’s potential benefits from a bad deal.

One point raised in the graphic is that a bad deal would allow Iran time to enrich enough uranium for a nuclear bomb. The enrichment concerns are very real, particularly given that US Secretary of State John Kerry has said an interim deal will not prevent Iran from enriching uranium.

If a bad deal were to go through, Israeli experts say an Israeli strike on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure would be risky and complicated, but is “within reach.”

The assessment comes as US security experts Tuesday warned that America is “unprepared” for an Iranian “Electromagnetic Pulse” attack.

TIP’s infographic appears as follows (download the image if you have trouble reading the small print, then zoom in):

Ambassador of Denmark honors countrymen who saved Jews during World War II

The Jerusalem Post (Oct 2) — The Ambassador of Denmark to Israel, accompanied by more than 100 Danish Jews, gathered at a high school in the capital Tuesday to honor the 70th anniversary of Denmark’s rescue of more than 7,000 Jews from Nazi persecution.

During a two-day incursion between August 29 and October 1 in 1943, the Nazis, who occupied Denmark at the time, attempted to deport the country’s nearly 7,500 Jews to death camps, but were defeated during a spontaneous uprising coordinated by Denmark’s citizens.

In defiance of the powerful Nazi war machine, thousands of Danes risked their own lives by hiding Jewish men, women and children, and then utilizing row boats and other modest vessels to transport the vast majority to politically neutral Sweden.

Danish Ambassador Jesper Vahr spoke at the memorial ceremony at the Denmark School in Talpiot.

“I, as Ambassador of Denmark and all Danes, can take great pride in this: The name Denmark reminds us of our duty to protect human life,” said Vahr.

“This anniversary means a lot both to Danes and to Israel.”

Vahr said the anniversary was also being commemorated throughout Denmark Tuesday, in memorials hosted by the country’s queen and prime minister.

“What is unique about this story is that it was not the act of one or two or three people – it was an act by all the people of Denmark who came together to rescue the Jewish community because Jews were an integral part of their society,” he said.

Vahr noted that it was his countrymen’s fundamental moral values and strong “sense of humanism to fight the terror of racism” that led many to risk their own lives to save a Jewish minority many had never met.

ABC releases big Benghazi report: Talking points changed 12 times, ‘dramatically edited by administration,’ and scrubbed of terror references

US ambassador for United nations Susan Rice

The Blaze — The talking points used by Amb. Susan Rice on the Sunday shows on the weekend after the 9/11/12 terror attack in Benghazi underwent at least 12 edits –  including revisions by the Obama administration’s State Department — new emails obtained by ABC News show. Those revisions included scrubbing all references to an Al Qaeda-affiliated group and all references to previous CIA warnings about a terror threat.

ABC’s Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl said on Friday morning that the talking points were “dramatically edited by the administration” and that State Department Spokeswoman Victoria Nuland played a major role in them. Karl explains below:

In a addition, a new report by the Weekly Standard says then-CIA director David Petraeus “was surprised when he read the freshly rewritten talking points an aide had emailed him in the early afternoon of Saturday, September 15″:

Before circulating the talking points to administration policymakers in the early evening of Friday, September 14, CIA officials changed “Islamic extremists with ties to al Qaeda” to simply “Islamic extremists.” But elsewhere, they added new contextual references to radical Islamists. They noted that initial press reports pointed to Ansar al Sharia involvement and added a bullet point highlighting the fact that the agency had warned about another potential attack on U.S. diplomatic facilities in the region. “On 10 September we warned of social media reports calling for a demonstration in front of the [Cairo] Embassy and that jihadists were threatening to break into the Embassy.”All told, the draft of the CIA talking points that was sent to top Obama administration officials that Friday evening included more than a half-dozen references to the enemy—al Qaeda, Ansar al Sharia, jihadists, Islamic extremists, and so on.

Aide to Egypt’s Morsi: “The myth of the Holocaust is an industry that America invented”

And Morsi repeats Qur’anic curses of Jews. The main obstacle to these Islamic supremacists declaring jihad against Israel is that they would lose American aid; once Obama works around that, the jihad will begin.

“Aide to Egyptian President Morsi claims Holocaust a US hoax,” by Paul Alster for FoxNews.com, January 29:

HAIFA, Israel – A key figure in Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi’s government called the Holocaust a hoax cooked up by U.S. intelligence operatives and claimed the 6 million Jews who were killed by Nazis simply moved to the U.S.
The outrageous claims, by Fathi Shihab-Eddim, a senior figure close to President Morsi who is now responsible for appointing the editors of all state-run Egyptian newspapers, came as the world marked Holocaust Remembrance Day on Jan. 27, and also as the U.S. continues to assess its relationship with the increasingly radical Arab state.

“The myth of the Holocaust is an industry that America invented,” Shihab-Eddim said, leaving no room for doubt that the Egyptian government — like Iran’s — has at the very least significant elements that deny one of history’s best documented genocides.

“U.S. intelligence agencies in cooperation with their counterparts in allied nations during World War II created it [the Holocaust] to destroy the image of their opponents in Germany, and to justify war and massive destruction against military and civilian facilities of the Axis powers, and especially to hit Hiroshima and Nagasaki with the atomic bomb,” Shihab-Eddim said….

Astronomers find ‘Earth 2’

The nearest single Sun-like star to the Earth hosts five planets – one of which is in the “habitable zone” where liquid water can exist, astronomers say.

Tau Ceti’s planetary quintet – reported in an online paper that will appear in Astronomy and Astrophysics – was found in existing planet-hunting data. The study’s refined methods of sifting through data should help find even more far-flung worlds.

The star now joins Alpha Centauri as a nearby star known to host planets.

In both those cases, the planets were found not by spying them through a telescope but rather by measuring the subtle effects they have on their host stars’ light.

First-grade teacher Victoria Soto died putting herself between her students and the rampaging gunman as he sprayed bullets inside Sandy Hook Elementary School, her cousin told ABC News.

“The family was informed that she was trying to shield, get her children into a closet and protect them from harm, and by doing that put herself between the children and the gunman, and that’s when she was tragically shot and killed,” Jim Wiltsie said.

The Hartford Courant reported that Soto’s classroom was next to where the shooting began at the Newtown, Conn. school. She is believed to have hidden 15 or 16 students, possibly in the closet or in a class bathroom, before the shooter, identified as 20-year-old Adam Lanza, entered the room.

Wiltsie said Soto’s “life dream was to be a teacher, and her instincts kicked in” when “there was harm coming towards her students.”

“It brings peace to know that Vicki was doing what she loved, protecting the children and in our eyes, she’s a hero,” Wiltsie said. “She lost her life doing what she loved. I don’t think she would have it any other way. She loved kids, her goal in life was to be a teacher and to mold young minds and that’s what she achieved and unfortunately lost her life protecting those children.”

“Romney’s $2 Billion Sacrifice for America,” Newsmax

Christopher Ruddy’s Perspective: Mitt Romney passed up well over a billion dollars to do public service.

It’s an amazing statement, but it’s true.

…A recent Forbes magazine article by Nathan Vardi headlined, “Mitt Romney: The Most Expensive Political Career in American History.”

As Vardi observes, “Lots of people pay a high price for getting into politics, but no one has likely given up more, at least financially, than Mitt Romney.”

Just how much?

Well, Forbes estimates Romney would be worth around $2 billion if he had stayed at Bain Capital rather than run for office.
