Glenn Beck: The most frightening part of Obama’s State of the Union was…

GlennBeck.com (Jan 29) — There were a lot of issues with the State of the Union address. In fact, it took Glenn one whole hour on radio this morning just to get through the first half of his notes. But there was one theme in particular that Glenn found most offensive. Just a few weeks ago, President Obama promised to circumvent Congress with his phone and his pen, and he doubled down on that message last night. Clearly, the constitutional limitations on executive power are of no concern to him.

Get Glenn Live! On TheBlaze TV

“The worst part of the speech last night – and the speech was horrific from start to finish – were the continual pronouncements that he fully intends to trash the Constitution of the United States to ignore Congress, the balance of power, and simply seize control and do whatever he wants to do,” Glenn said on radio this morning. “Over and over again he looked the American people in the eye – a guy who took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United State – and over and over again looking us in the eye, he said he would use his executive power to get his way. He bragged about it repeatedly.”

Glenn believes this is a moment our grandchildren will look back on this moment as the beginning of an unprecedented power grab from the executive branch of government. And he encouraged his listeners to write in their journals what side of history they stand on.

“Write it down in your diaries and keep it for your children and your grandchildren because you’re going to have to be an example for your grandchildren [so they will know] the true history. This is what really happened,” Glenn said. “And I believe that every American should write in those diaries that this was the State of the Union where our President declared he would become America’s first dictator.”

This transition of power began in the early 20th century with President Woodrow Wilson, but Glenn believes it was completed last night. To make matters worse, President Obama announced his intention to marginalize the legislative branch while the lemmings in Congress thunderously applauded.

“The most chilling part of the speech – more terrifying than a president standing up and saying, ‘I’m just going to become an administrator. I’ll just become a dictator’ – was that half of the Congress, who are about to lose their power… cheered him on like the lemmings that they are,” Glenn concluded. “Like the Roman Senate and Caesar, they cheered him on.”

National Park Declared Where David Fought Goliath

An aerial view of the Khirbet Qeiyafa dig

IsraelNationalNews (Jan 30) — A national park will be declared at Khirbet Qeiyafa and the Ela Valley, southwest of Jerusalem, and a residential neighborhood that had been planned next to the location will not be built. The area is believed to be the spot where the young David fought Goliath, according to the Bible.

The decision was made by the Jerusalem District Committee for Planning and Construction. The national park will stretch from Beit Natif in the east to Khirbet Qeiyafa in the west, and the construction of the southern neighborhood of Ramat Beit Shemesh will be scrapped.

The decision is being hailed as a major accomplishment for the preservation of nature in Israel, and as the product of successful cooperation between the Israel Antiquities Authority and the Nature and Parks Authority.

Khirbet Qeiyafa, an ancient ruin atop a hill that borders the Ela Valley from the north, is thought to be the Biblical city of Sha’arayim. The city is heavily fortified, and is typical of other Judean cities that were established during the period of the Kings, before the destruction of the First Temple. It has been excavated since 2007 by archeologists Prof. Yosef Garfinkel from Hebrew University, and Saar Ganor of the Antiquities Authority.

The site features three unique public buildings, the first of their kind ever found in the Judean area. The buildings date to the tenth century before the Common Era – the period in which King David reigned in Jerusalem.

Garfinkel and Ganor have claimed that one of the buildings is indeed a palace used by King David himself.

The Head of the Preservation Administration within the Antiquities Authority, Raanan Kislev, issued a statement hailing what he called a “dramatic” and “unprecedented” decision, that establishes “a policy of planning that sees preservation of heritage a value equal in importance to the urgent need for housing units and development.”

Yuval Peled, who heads the Development Section in the Nature and Parks Authority, also congratulated the District Committee for its decision, which “will enable future generations to feel the past in the scenery of the present, and to understand the setting of the historical story of the battle of David and Goliath, a battle that has historical significance for the nation in Zion and the entire world.”

“Moderate” Fatah leader calls for “armed uprising” against Israel

Terrorists from Fatah's Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade

Terrorists from Fatah’s Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade

IsraelNationalNews (Jan 26) — A senior member of Fatah, the party headed by Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, has called to renew terrorist attacks on Israel,Maariv/nrg reports.

Fatah Central Committee member Tawfik Tirawi reportedly told Al-Miadin that there will be no new Arab state in Judea, Samaria and Gaza in the near future, and not even in 20 years. For that reason, he said, Fatah must resume the “violent uprising” against Israel – meaning terrorism.

“That’s the only way things will change,” he argued.

Fatah must “join all of the organizations, both those operating under the Palestinian Authority, and those outside it,” he added, in an apparent reference to Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Hamas remains openly committed to obliterating Israel, while Islamic Jihad recently threatened to resume suicide bombings.

Tirawi argued that Fatah never truly abandoned terrorism. “Fatah never abandoned any form of action, including armed resistance,” he insisted.

Tirawi clarified that he is pessimistic regarding the chances of establishing a PA-led Arab state through negotiations because he believes the PA will reject any compromise deal of the type offered by United States Secretary of State John Kerry.

PA leaders have repeatedly declared that they are unwilling to compromise on their demands, which include the expulsion of all Israeli Jews from land over the 1949 armistice line, sole control of the Temple Mount – Judaism’s holiest site, the “right of return” for millions of Arabs descended from those who left Israel in 1948, the release of all terrorists, and the right to import weapons.

This is the latest in a string of incendiary statements by senior Fatah officials – statements which belie the PA’s official stance in undertaking negotiations with Israel.

Just a few days ago, the Fatah party’s official Facebook page featured a video by the group’s armed wing – the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades – in which it threatened to bomb Tel Aviv and promised to continue rocket attacks from Gaza.

Earlier this month, Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki told Syrian state TV that the PA’s participation in US-brokered talks is part of a wider strategy to destroy Israel, and that whatever concessions it receives through diplomatic means will simply be the “first step” in achieving that long-term goal.

New York Senate bill ends funding to schools linked to Israel boycott group

“Bill sends a message – we should never ask taxpayers to support religious, ethnic, or racial discrimination.”

academic boycottThe Jerusalem Post (Jan 29) — The New York Senate passed a bill on Tuesday that would prohibit private or public state colleges and universities from spending taxpayers funds on academic groups that support boycotting IsraelCapitol Confidential reported.

The legislation, introduced earlier this month by Democratic Senator Jeff Klien, passed by a vote of 51-4.

This is the first time a legislative body has managed to pass a bill targeting the American Studies Association over its decision to boycott Israel.

“This legislation sends a very simple message, which is that we should never ask taxpayers to support religious, ethnic, or racial discrimination. We need to marginalize the politics of intolerance whenever it rears its ugly head,” Klein said in a statement.

”I will not allow the enemies of Israel or the Jewish people to gain an inch in New York. The First Amendment protects every organization’s right to speak, but it never requires taxpayers to foot the bill,” he added.

Under the new legislation, New York academic institutes could no longer reimburse students or scholars traveling to conventions of the three groups that have voted to boycott Israel: the ASA, the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association and the Association for Asian American Studies.

In addition, state schools will be henceforth prohibited from paying membership fees to the ASA.

The state will cut off aid to any academic institution that violates the legislation during the academic year the violation occurred.

Raymond Ibrahim: The Existential Elephant in the ‘Christian Persecution’ Room

Indian.ChristiansJihadWatch (Jan 28) — Open Doors USA recently released its widely cited 2014 World Watch List—a report that highlights and ranks the 50 worst nations around the globe persecuting Christians.

The one glaring fact that emerges from this report is that the overwhelming majority of Christian persecution around the world today is being committed at the hands of Muslims of all races, languages, cultures, and socio-political circumstances: Muslims from among America’s allies (Saudi Arabia) and its enemies (Iran); Muslims from economically rich nations (Qatar) and from poor nations (Somalia and Yemen); Muslims from “Islamic republic” nations (Afghanistan) and from “moderate” nations (Malaysia and Indonesia); Muslims from nations rescued by America (Kuwait) and Muslims claiming “grievances” against America (fill in the blank __).

A common denominator, a pattern, exists, one that is even more extensive than Open Doors implies.  According to that organization’s communications director, Emily Fuentes, “of the 50 worst nations for persecution, 37 of them are Muslim,” or 74%.

In fact, while this number suggests that the other 13 countries making the top 50 are not Muslim—for example Kenya and Ethiopia—those doing the persecution there are.

In other words, those persecuting Christians in 41 of 50 nations are Muslims; that is, a whopping 82% of all persecution around the globe is being committed by the adherents of Islam—sometimes in Christian majority nations; for example, the Central African Republic which, after the 2013 Islamic takeover, now ranks #16, “severe persecution” (the Christian-majority nation did not even appear in the previous year’s top 50).

As for the top ten absolute worst nations, where, according to the 2014 World Watch List, Christians suffer “extreme persecution,” nine—that is, 90%—are Muslim.  (Indeed, Open Doors’ global map of Christian persecution can easily be confused with a global map of the Islamic world, with the exception of China (ranked 37, “moderate persecution”) and some sporadic countries dominated by crime and godless tyranny, Columbia, North Korea, etc.)

Similarly, a recent Morning Star News report listing 2013’s ten most horrific anecdotes of Christian persecution around the world finds that nine out of ten—again, 90%—were committed at the hands of those professing Islam.

Still, considering that the 2014 World Watch List ranks North Korea—non-Islamic, communist—as the number one worst persecutor of Christians, why belabor the religious identity of Muslims?

Here we come to some critically important but blurred distinctions…  Keep reading

Poll: 59% of Americans want stronger Iran sanctions

NUKE-APA new poll to be released Tuesday shows that 59% of Americans believe that stronger sanctions are needed to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. The poll was conducted for the World Zionist Organization by McLaughlin Associates among 1000 American adults. It also found that 51% believe Obama has not done all that he could to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear power, and only 31% believe Obama is a friend of Israel.

Al-Qaeda to Morsi: Execute all Christians and secularists who oppose Sharia

Mohammed-MorsyRaymond Ibrahim: Many of the alleged telephone recordings between ousted Egyptian president Muhammad Morsi and Muhammad Zawahiri, al-Qaeda leader Ayman Zawahiri’s brother, are becoming available on Egyptian media, and will likely be part of Morsi’s February 16 trial, dealing with his alleged conspiracies with variously foreign jihadi organizations.

One call is especially telling regarding al-Qaeda’s enmity for secularists, Coptic Christians, and all who oppose the Sharia agenda.  I translate portions below:

Zawahiri: “The teachings of Allah need to be applied and enforced; the secularists have stopped the Islamic sharia, and the response must be a stop to the building of churches.” ( An odd assertion considering how difficult it is for Copts merely to acquire a repair permit for their churches in Egypt.)

Zawahiri also added that “All those who reject the Sharia must be executed, and all those belonging to the secular media which works to disseminate debauchery and helps deviants and Christians to violate the Sharia, must be executed.”

Morsi reportedly replied: “We have taken deterrent measures to combat those few, and new legislative measures to limit their media, and in the near future, we will shut down these media stations and launch large Islamic media outlets.  We are even planning a big budget from the [Brotherhood] International Group  to launch Islamic and jihadi satellite stations  to urge on the jihad. There will be a channel for you and the men of al-Qaeda, and it can be broadcast from Afghanistan.”

Undeterred, Zawahiri responded by saying, “This [is a] Christian media—and some of the media personnel are paid by the [Coptic] Church and they work with those who oppose the Sharia… secularist forces are allied with Christian forces, among them [Naguib] Sawiris, the Christian-Jew.”

Morsi: “Soon we will uphold our promises to you.”

There is much more to be said concerning the Morsi-Zawahiri connection.  More later.

Ahead of International Holocaust Day – Jews less secure worldwide in 2013, says gov’t report

Ahead of International Holocaust Day, Israel warns of social media-based ‘new anti-Semitism’ hiding behind anti-Zionist mask.

A young man displays the quenelle in front of the main gate of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp.

A young man displays the quenelle in front of the main gate of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp.

The Times of Israel (Jan 26) — A day ahead of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Diaspora Affairs Minister Naftali Bennett on Sunday released the government’s annual report on anti-Semitism. Overall, the report pointed to a deterioration in the security situation of Jews around the world, amid widening concerns about anti-Semitism.

The report combined the results of polls conducted in 2013 on anti-Semitism in Europe to paint a gloomy picture of a Jewish community in that continent that felt more intimidated than ever, even though the fact that the number of anti-Semitic incidents in Europe did not rise in 2013.

The report also tracked developments that had a negative impact on Jewish life in a number of countries around the world — from a Chilean senator’s accusation that plainclothes Israeli soldiers were “mapping out” his country to the growing persecution of Jews in the Middle East, particularly in Yemen.

“There are those who, at first glance, will find in the annual report causes for optimism,” read the introduction written by Public Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs Minister Yuli Edelstein. “Unlike 2012, 2013 did not see a rise in anti-Semitic incidents worldwide. However, the truth is that the situation has only deteriorated — and significantly,” he said.

Edelstein wrote that while 2013 would not be remembered for high-profile anti-Semitic incidents, such as the shooting attack that shook the French city of Toulouse in 2012, it would be remembered as “the year in which the anti-Semitic atmosphere came to dominate the lives of Jews around the world, particularly in Europe.”

Citing a September poll by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights, the report noted that almost a quarter of European Jews avoid visiting places and wearing symbols that identify them as Jews for fear of anti-Semitism, and that nearly three-fourths of the Jews polled – 91 percent in Hungary – feel anti-Semitism has increased in the past five years.

That poll also revealed that nearly a quarter of European Jews don’t visit Jewish institutions or attend Jewish functions for fear of being attacked en route, one-third fear falling victim to anti-Semitic attacks, and slightly less than a third are considering emigration.

Two-thirds said they see anti-Semitism as a problem that significantly and continuously impacts their lives.

In Hungary, where the radical nationalist Jobbik party has made significant inroads, the threat was perceived as stemming from the far right, whereas in France and Belgium from radical Islam.

Also noted in the new report was that some 19,200 Jews made aliyah (the Hebrew term for immigrating to Israel) in 2013, a slight rise over the 18,940 who immigrated in 2012, according to the Jewish Agency. Immigration from France and other Western European countries was up dramatically in 2013, but immigration from the US was down.

The statistic that the Israeli government found most worrying was that “most Jews have reconciled themselves to anti-Semitism to the point that 77 percent of European Jews don’t report anti-Semitic incidents to any organization, Jewish, governmental or otherwise,” due to a deep-seated belief that the complaints won’t be addressed.

British Museum: Prototype for Noah’s Ark was round

Curator Irving Finkel calls 4,000-year-old Mesopotamian tablet telling flood story ‘one of the most important human documents ever discovered.’

Irving Finkel, curator in charge of cuneiform clay tablets at the British Museum, poses with the 4,000 year old clay tablet containing the story of the Ark and the flood.

Irving Finkel, curator in charge of cuneiform clay tablets at the British Museum, poses with the 4,000 year old clay tablet containing the story of the Ark and the flood.

LONDON (AP) — It was a vast boat that saved two of each animal and a handful of humans from a catastrophic flood.

But forget all those images of a long vessel with a pointy bow — the original Noah’s Ark, new research suggests, was round.

A recently deciphered 4,000-year-old clay tablet from ancient Mesopotamia — modern-day Iraq — reveals striking new details about the roots of the Old Testament tale of Noah. It tells a similar story, complete with detailed instructions for building a giant round vessel known as a coracle — as well as the key instruction that animals should enter “two by two.”

The tablet went on display at the British Museum on Friday, and soon engineers will follow the ancient instructions to see whether the vessel could actually have sailed.

It’s also the subject of a new book, “The Ark Before Noah,” by Irving Finkel, the museum’s assistant keeper of the Middle East and the man who translated the tablet.

Finkel got hold of it a few years ago, when a man brought in a damaged tablet his father had acquired in the Middle East after World War II. It was light brown, about the size of a mobile phone and covered in the jagged cuneiform script of the ancient Mesopotamians.

It turned out, Finkel said Friday, to be “one of the most important human documents ever discovered.”

“It was really a heart-stopping moment — the discovery that the boat was to be a round boat,” said Finkel, who sports a long gray beard, a ponytail and boundless enthusiasm for his subject. “That was a real surprise.”

And yet, Finkel said, a round boat makes sense. Coracles were widely used as river taxis in ancient Iraq and are perfectly designed to bob along on raging floodwaters.

“It’s a perfect thing,” Finkel said. “It never sinks, it’s light to carry.”

Other experts said Finkel wasn’t simply indulging in book-promotion hype. David Owen, professor of ancient Near Eastern studies at Cornell University, said the British Museum curator had made “an extraordinary discovery.”

Scarlett Johansson responds to SodaStream criticism

American actress, the new face of West Bank-based Israeli company SodaStream, releases first statement after BDS cries of apartheid.

Scarlett_Johansson_by_Gage_Skidmore-e1381214800916The Times of Israel (Jan 25) — American actress Scarlett Johansson released a statement Friday about the controversy surrounding her role as the first-ever brand ambassador of the Israeli company SodaStream. Her public comments were made after she came under fire for the endorsement deal from the pro-Palestinian Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement.

“While I never intended on being the face of any social or political movement, distinction, separation or stance as part of my affiliation with SodaStream, given the amount of noise surrounding that decision, I’d like to clear the air,” Johansson’s statement, published by The Huffington Post, read.

Since SodaStream named Scarlett Johansson the first-ever brand ambassador of its sleek, sassy seltzer makers earlier this month, the BDS movement has demanded that the starlet step down from the post, plastering the Twittersphere with blood-soaked ads bestowing upon Scarlett an “A for Apartheid.”

Their beef with the beverage company? Its principal manufacturing plant, which is located in the industrial strip of Ma’aleh Adumim, a major West Bank settlement. Many in the BDS movement, a global campaign that urges its supporters to withhold patronage of any Israeli-made goods and services, began tossing the term “blood bubbles” around the Internet, while others cried foul over Johansson’s role as an Oxfam ambassador.

Johansson’s statement seemed to try to allay her critics’ concerns: ”I remain a supporter of economic cooperation and social interaction between a democratic Israel and Palestine. SodaStream is a company that is not only committed to the environment but to building a bridge to peace between Israel and Palestine, supporting neighbors working alongside each other, receiving equal pay, equal benefits and equal rights. That is what is happening in their Ma’ale Adumim factory every working day.”

She continued: ”I believe in conscious consumerism and transparency and I trust that the consumer will make their own educated choice that is right for them.”

Israeli leaders to world: Don’t be fooled by Iranian deception

After Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s speech in Davos, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres caution world not to fall for Iran’s charm offensive • PM: Iran must not be allowed to attain nuclear weapons capability.

139056415818984069a_bIsrael HaYom (Jan 24) — Shortly after the latest round of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s charm offensive — in the form of a speech Rouhani gave at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Thursday — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres cautioned the world not to be fooled by Iran.

“Rouhani is continuing with the Iranian show of deception,” Netanyahu said in a statement. “At a time when Rouhani condemns the killing of innocents, dozens of innocents were recently executed in Iran. At a time when Rouhani talks about a positive approach to technology, he prevents Iranians from freely surfing the Internet.

“At a time when Rouhani talks about peace with the countries of the Middle East, he refuses — even today — to recognize the existence of the State of Israel, and his regime daily calls for the destruction of the State of Israel. At a time when Rouhani claims that Iran is not interested in a nuclear project for military purposes, Iran continues to strengthen its centrifuges and heavy water reactor, and to arm itself with intercontinental missiles, the sole purpose of which is for nuclear weapons.

“Rouhani has admitted that a decade ago, he deceived the West in order to advance the Iranian nuclear program. He is doing this today as well.

“The goal of the Iranian ayatollahs’ regime, which is hiding behind Rouhani’s smiles, is to ease sanctions without conceding on their program to produce nuclear weapons. Therefore, the international community must not go astray after this deception, and it must prevent Iran from attaining the ability to produce nuclear weapons.”

At a press conference after Rouhani’s speech, Peres said, “The most significant remarks were the ones [Rouhani] didn’t make — he didn’t express support for peace in the Middle East. He is the only leader I know who didn’t say clearly the time has come to make peace between Israel and the Arabs. He excluded the reference to peace and when he was asked if his vision included all countries he said it included only the ones that Iran will accept, that is some definition.

“US does not object” to Lebanese government that includes Hizballah

hezbollah_recruitsNo surprise here. This is consistent with Obama’s foreign policy throughout his presidency. “Hook, line, and sinker,” by Tony Badran for Now, January 23:

The Obama administration finally got what it wanted as the Geneva II conference kicked off yesterday with the stated purpose of joining together the Assad regime and the opposition in a transitional government. At the same time, another farcical production is underway in Beirut, as efforts continue to form a unity government including Hezbollah and the March 14 bloc. As with its Syrian iteration, the formation of such a Lebanese government appears to have US backing. Sensing a convergence with American preferences, Hezbollah is playing up to Washington, seeking to leverage the US position to its advantage.

Renewed talk of a national unity government took many in Beirut by surprise, especially when former Prime Minister Saad Hariri appeared open to the idea. So far it remains unclear what motivated Hariri’s decision, but what is curious is that a potential partnership with Hezbollah in government looks to be receiving approval from Washington.

Over the past several weeks, the pro-Hezbollah media has published alleged quotes by David Hale, US ambassador to Lebanon, as well as by another unnamed US official weighing in on the question of forming a unity government. Last December, as there was talk of President Suleiman forming a neutral government, the pro-Hezbollah Al-Akhbar newspaper published what it claimed was Ambassador Hale’s counsel on the matter to Suleiman’s advisor. According to Al-Akhbar, Hale allegedly expressed “America’s understanding of Saudi Arabia’s rejection of Hezbollah’s participation in any government. However, America fears the reaction of Hezbollah, Syria, and Iran to such a step. For these reactions could lead to a total loss of stability, and maybe worse, to total Hezbollah and Syrian control over Lebanon.” Hale, Al-Akhbar proceeded to say, then counseled Suleiman’s advisor to support the efforts of Walid Jumblatt, who was working for a unity government with Hezbollah.

Then earlier this month, the pro-Hezbollah newspaper As-Safir quoted another unnamed US official making that point more explicitly. “If the obligatory gateway to forming a new government in Lebanon is partnership with Hezbollah, then the US does not object, especially since the reality and composition of Lebanon attest without a doubt that there is no possibility to form a government without Hezbollah.”

It’s tempting to dismiss these quotes as the pro-Hezbollah media’s self-serving propaganda, even if the US embassy has not yet publicly denied them. At the same time, however, they reveal how US policy in the region is allowing Iran and its assets to leverage Washington’s posture to press their advantage. The US considers Sunni Islamist groups to be the principal threat to stability in the region. The White House approach is to work with functioning governments to prevent extremists from emerging or growing. Accordingly, Tehran and its allies from Baghdad to Beirut have zeroed in on a single message, which they understand resonates well in Washington: fighting terrorism. Iran’s regional assets understand that this brings the US onside to undercut their domestic, Sunni, adversaries….

“Moderate” Fatah: “We will turn Tel Aviv into a ball of fire”

“Of course, Israel cannot be expected to negotiate with anyone who is dedicated to its destruction. But while I know you have had differences with the Palestinian Authority, I believe that you do have a true partner in President Abbas…” — Barack Obama, March 21, 2013

“Fatah publicizes threats to bomb Tel Aviv on its official Facebook page,” by Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik for Palestinian Media Watch, January 22:

Once again Fatah has chosen to post threats of terror against Israel on its official Facebook page. Yesterday, the movement posted a video in which Fatah’s military wing, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, threatens to turn Tel Aviv into a “ball of fire”:

“We swear to you that we will turn the beloved [Gaza] Strip into a graveyard for your soldiers, and we will turn Tel Aviv into a ball of fire.”

These threats are made by a masked man in uniform standing in front of a group of other masked men, all of whom are holding weapons. The full video is eight minutes long and shows footage of masked men in military training, arsenals of weapons, missiles being launched, as well as footage of Israelis running for shelter during missile attacks.

Fatah is headed by PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. Its military wing, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, has been declared a terrorist organization by the US, Canada, the EU and others.

Because of the Qur’an-derived stipulation that sexual crimes can only be established by the testimony of four male Muslim witnesses, along with the Sharia provision that women’s testimony is not admissible in cases involving sex, it is not at all unknown that women are in prison for being victims of rape: their own charge against the perpetrator becomes self-incriminating when he refuses to confess and there are not four witnesses.

“Dubai to charge Austrian woman victim for illegal sex,” from Austrian Times, January 21:

An Austrian tourist who claimed she was raped by a policeman’s son in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates has been told that she is facing jail herself – for having sex outside of marriage.

The 24-year-old woman reported the rape to local police expecting that they would take action against the accused, and instead found herself facing charges.

And even more amazing she claims that she was told by one of the policeman that she complained to that she could escape charges if she were prepared to marry the man that she alleged had raped her in a car during an attack on December 2nd, which is a public holiday in Dubai.

…Interestingly both the latest case involving the Austrian woman and the earlier case involving the Norwegian woman had both involved in making complaints at the same police station in the in Bur area of Dubai.

The 24-year-old Norwegian was convicted and sentenced on charges of having unlawful sex, making a false statement and illegal consumption of alcohol.

But after international protests she was pardoned and released. The man was also freed.

In the United Arab Emirates, as in some other countries using Islamic law, a rape conviction can require either a confession, or the testimony of four adult male witnesses.
