Raymond Ibrahim is painfully perceptive about Obama’s America, the surrender of the West, the persecution of Christians and how the Western world learns nothing but eagerly support their own mortal enemies. Give him 10 minutes!
Has Anthony Weiner and Houma Abedin’s dilemma become America’s dilemma?
ABC’s late-night television host, Jimmy Kimmel sent his cameras to the streets outside his studio on Hollywood Boulevard for the latest edition of his “Pedestrian Question” segment. The producers were looking for married couples, and they asked the burning question that’s also facing Mr. and Mrs. Weiner: “If your husband sent pictures of his penis to women, would you stand by his side?”
“The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam,” said Barack Obama. America, behold your future.
“7 years jail, 600 lashes for Saudi rights activist, lawyer says,” from AFP, July 29:
A Saudi court sentenced on Monday a rights activist to seven years in jail and 600 lashes for setting up a “liberal” network and alleged insults to Islam, activists said.
“Raef Badawi has been sentenced to seven years in jail and 600 lashes,” lawyer Waleed Abualkhair wrote on his Twitter account, adding that the judge ordered the closure of the website of the Saudi Liberal Network.
He said Badawi, a co-founder of the Saudi Liberal Network, was charged with criticizing the religious police, as well as calling for “religious liberalization”.
A judge had referred Badawi in December to a higher court for alleged apostasy, a charge that could lead to the death penalty in the ultra-conservative kingdom.
The death penalty for apostasy is not just an “ultra-conservative” Saudi law. It is taught by all the schools of Islamic jurisprudence, based on commands attributed to Muhammad. For AFP and the rest of the mainstream media, you’re “ultra-conservative” if you favor Sharia, and “far-right” if you oppose it.
An elderly man walking his dog in the southern Israeli desert town of Arad last week passed a gas station where he saw a bus full of soldiers from the Israel Defense Forces on their way to weekend leave with their families after three weeks of training. While crossing their path, the man appeared to make a spontaneous decision that made some 50 soldiers and their driver very happy.
Matan Mymon, who works at the Dor Alon gas station and market in Arad, posted on Facebook what happened next, a post that’s received more than 17,000 Likes and counting.
The man secretly ordered 51 sandwiches and a crate of colas for them and their driver, a purchase totaling 1,099 New Israeli Shekels, or $306. Sales clerk Mymon was so touched by the man’s generous act, he took a photo of the receipt and posted it on Facebook.
He writes: “I, Matan Mymon, who works at Dor Alon [gas station] in Arad was witness to the most unselfish, most considerate, most spontaneous, most appreciative, most crazy most loving, most touching moment in the history of gas stations..!”
“An older man whose name will remain with us went for the usual walk with his dog. Part of his walking path crosses Alonit where I work. Such a coincidence, a bus full of soldiers from the paratroopers brigade (excuse me for not seeing which battalion they are from) stopped precisely then. At that moment, the older man approached me and asked for two crates of cola and 51 sandwiches (for the driver too) for the soldiers, at his expense. Amazing. The receipt is attached,” Mymon added.
Two soldiers who say they were on the bus posted their thanks to the anonymous donor on Facebook.
Yoav Greenblatt writes: “And I, Yoav Greenblatt, was on the bus…it was after a very hard week. After three poor hours of sleep while sitting on the bus, at 5 in the morning I opened my eyes to crates of cola, pastries, four types of sandwiches, commotion and smiles on the bus. Sigh, I feel proud.”
Almog Frangie wrote: “I was on the bus…it was really exciting, a moment that you appreciate after 21 days in the army [without going home]. Amazing. Thank you.”
Omer Galron who wasn’t on the bus addressed his comment to the anonymous gentleman: “You made their weekend sweeter.”
The post elicited other stories of generosity including from Maayan Schreiber who wrote: “I’m a manager at McDonald’s and a similar thing happened to me. Four soldiers stood at the counter and ordered meals. The customer standing behind them waited for them to finish ordering and paid for all of their meals. There are still good people out there!”
Sarit Avraham wrote: “As the mother of a soldier, a personal ‘thank you’ from me to the noble gentleman . Chapeau and all the power to you for sharing.”
TheBlaze contacted the Arad store on Monday which verified that the incident indeed occurred.
TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) — More than 1,000 detainees escaped from a prison near the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi in a massive jailbreak Saturday, as protesters stormed the offices of political parties in Libya’s main cities.
It wasn’t immediately clear if the jailbreak at the Koyfiya prison came as part of the protests or if inmates received outside help. Protesters had massed across the country angry over the killing of an activist critical of the country’s Muslim Brotherhood group.
Those who escaped either face or were convicted of serious charges, a security official at Koyfiya prison said, confirming the jailbreak. He spoke on condition of anonymity as he wasn’t authorized to speak to journalists.
There also was confusion initially about how many prisoners broke out, with numbers of escapees ranging as high as 1,200,
Benghazi’s security situation is among the most precarious in post-revolution Libya. Last year, the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans were killed in an attack there.
Meanwhile Saturday, hundreds gathered in the capital Tripoli after dawn prayers, denouncing the Friday shooting death of Abdul-Salam Al-Musmari. They set fire to tires in the street and demanded the dissolution of Islamist parties.
The two incidents highlighted Libya’s precarious security situation and the challenges the North African country faces as it tries to restore security nearly than two years after the ouster and killing of longtime dictator Moammar Gadhafi.
It’s very difficult to listen to this story. But it’s important to be aware why the mainstream media and politicians act the way they do.
The Blaze — Glenn Beck confronted society’s morality on his television program Thursday evening, shocked and disgusted at the events of recent weeks.
He primarily focused on the horrific report of a 13-year-old girl who was allegedly gang raped by up to ten men in Austin, TX, before being sexually assaulted by another man after being dropped off with “nowhere to go.” Doctors said their findings were consistent with the allegations.
“Where is the outrage? Where’s Al Sharpton?” Beck said, pausing briefly with emotion. “Where’s Barack Obama? Shouldn’t the president give a speech saying something like, ‘This girl could have been my daughter, after all my daughter is just turning 14?’ …How about speeches on the dangers of letting illegals live in the shadows? How about the speeches of let’s just be good to each other? Where are the marches?”
President Barack Obama spoke several times about 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, who was shot by George Zimmerman in what a jury recently ruled was self defense. The president said Martin could’ve been his son, or even could’ve been him 35 years ago. The issue aroused sustained national fury over the death of the 17-year-old.
But Beck said the 13-year-old girl should expect no such support.
“See, nobody really actually cares about people anymore,” Beck said. “It’s really only about politics. It’s not about Trayvon Martin. They had to make him look like a little 13-year-old-boy…Why? Because it would help them get elected, or re-elected, or get them to cause trouble or get more trouble. But see this little 13-year-old-girl, you don’t have to doctor a picture of her…she is 13.”

At a recreation center at the University of Central Missouri, security personnel refused to admit 10 members of the College Republicans to a speech by the president on economic policy, The College Fix reports.
All 10 students reportedly had tickets to the event.
Staffers told Courtney Scott, the group’s state treasurer, and the rest of the College Republicans that the decision somehow wasn’t about the group’s political views, but about the president’s security.
The problem seemed to be that some of the students were wearing shirts emblazoned with tea party slogans, Republican symbols and even patriotic motifs. They had also had done the protest thing earlier in the day with some signs. The group members said they had long put away their signs by the time they were at the gate for Obama’s 5:30 p.m.
Nevertheless, the contingent of the Show-Me State’s College Republicans was prevented from seeing the president speak — but not for their political views, you understand.
“It just didn’t make any sense,” Scott told The Fix. “A lot of us traveled several hours to watch the speech. We were very disappointed not to be able to attend.”
Islamic anti-Semitism, courtesy the UN. The world is indeed upside down: the recognized guardians of peace and harmony are the world’s greatest enablers of hatred and violence. “Two States? Not at ‘Camp Jihad,'” from Israel National News, July 22:
As Israel and the Palestinian Authority prepare to renew their negotiations for “peace” under U.S. mediation, a short but powerful documentary about UNRWA children’s camps shows just what kind of “solution” the Palestinian Authority and many of its citizens have in mind.
The film is made up almost exclusively of interviews with children and instructors at UNRWA camps.
In one part, campers are encouraged to chant:
“With God’s help and our own strength we will wage war. And with education and jihad we will return!”
At another point, a camp instructor brands Jews as “wolves.”
The camps are mainly financed by the U.S. and other western countries including the UK, Canada and the EU, and the documentary raises serious questions about how and why western funds are being used to inculcate Arab children with a virulently militant brand of antisemitism.
“Camp Jihad” was produced by the Nahum Bedein Center for Near East Policy Research.
In case you haven’t heard about the Weiner story, he was a Democratic U.S. Representative who resigned from Congress in June 2011, due to a sexting scandal (he sent naked pictures of himself to random girls even though he’s married). He is now running for Mayor of New York City and it was recently revealed that he was caught sending steamy chats to another woman last summer even after apologizing for doing just that in 2011. And while you may have even read the sext messages, you likely haven’t seen TheBlaze TV’s Will Cain and SE Cupp try to give a dramatic reading of them.
That’s right, on Tuesday’s “Real News” episode, Cain and Cupp chose some of the more G-rated messages and tried to deliver them in dramatic fashion. They nearly lost it:
Glenn Beck gave the keynote address at Christians United for Israel’s Washington Summit Tuesday night, concluding a day that featured speakers from Congresswoman Michele Bachmann to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“Miracles do happen, Pastor Hagee got me to come back to Washington, D.C.,” Beck began with a laugh. “I’m proud to be here. I’m humbled to be here. I usually take about five minutes to write a speech. This one has been weighing on me for quite some time, and I have prayed a great deal on what to say.”
Beck spoke about the turmoil in the Middle East, how America’s founding is tied to Israel, and backed up his vocal support for the organization with a generous donation.
“Last time I was here, Mercury One and my wife and I donated $10,000 to help with CUFI on Campus,” he said. “And I spoke to my wife before I came and we were prepared to do $50,000, but I am asking you to be ten times what you think you can be, and I will put my money where my mouth is and write you a check tonight for $100,000.”
The crowd erupted in applause as Beck continued: “The students and our youth are the answer and the key. We must not just have a hand, a palm on their back — we must have our shoulders behind them and prop them up and do all that we can do. These are the days, and it’s exciting to watch God work! It will be amazing to see what God does in Israel. It will be amazing to see the miracles when our back is up the wall and we don’t think we can make it. This is it — watch not for His finger, not for His hand, but for the whole arm of God.”
Throughout his speech, Beck warned the audience about the “terrible, terrible days” that could lie ahead if the people of America don’t “wake up and turn around.”
“We are entering a time where most people can’t see the difference between light and dark, good and evil, and our humanity is slipping from us,” he said, later adding: “It is essential that we remember and everything we have is set up to remember who we are.”
“God bless, and God bless the state of Israel.”
Reuters — Hundreds of convicts, including senior members of al Qaeda, broke out of Iraq’s Abu Ghraib jail as comrades launched a military-style assault to free them, authorities said on Monday.
The deadly raid on the high-security jail happened as Sunni Muslim militants are gaining momentum in their insurgency against the Shi’ite-led government that came to power after the U.S. invasion to oust Saddam Hussein.
Suicide bombers drove cars packed with explosives to the gates of the prison on the outskirts of Baghdad on Sunday night and blasted their way into the compound, while gunmen attacked guards with mortars and rocket-propelled grenades.
Other militants took up positions near the main road, fighting off security reinforcements sent from Baghdad as several militants wearing suicide vests entered the prison on foot to help free the inmates.
Ten policemen and four militants were killed in the ensuing clashes, which continued until Monday morning, when military helicopters arrived, helping to regain control.
By that time, hundreds of inmates had succeeded in fleeing Abu Ghraib, the prison made notorious a decade ago by photographs showing abuse of prisoners by U.S. soldiers.
“The number of escaped inmates has reached 500, most of them were convicted senior members of al Qaeda and had received death sentences,” Hakim Al-Zamili, a senior member of the security and defense committee in parliament, told Reuters.
Arutz Sheva — One of the unsung heroes of the effort to put Hizbullah’s “military wing” on a European Union blacklist was none other than former Hollywood actor and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In a letter, Schwarzenegger convinced Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann to instruct the country’s Foreign Minister to cast Austria’s vote for the blacklist proposal, something that neither Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu nor President Shimon Peres were able to do.
Austria, along with several other countries, including Greece, Malta, Ireland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, were still “on the fence” last week when it came to the decision to blacklist Hizbullah. In order for the terror group to enter the list, which would require the EU to impose sanctions on the terror group, seize its bank accounts, and arrest its members, a unanimous vote was required. In the end, there were several abstentions, but the measure was passed anyway, on the condition that the decision be revisited in six months.
…The contents of Schwarzenegger’s letter were not fully revealed, but reports said that he referred to the group’s incessant rocket attacks against Israel. Given its history, Schwarzenegger is said to have written, Austria had a responsibility to Israel to help its people live in peace, regardless of the politics of the region.
This is a reality for young girls in all parts of the Muslim world. Watch this video, read the statistics including this one: 850,000 girls under age 10 are married in Iran; and then try to keep lying to yourself that Islam really is the religion of peace.
“11-Year-Old Yemeni Girl Nada Al-Ahdal Flees Home to Avoid Forced Marriage: I’d Rather Kill Myself,” from MEMRI, July 8:
Nada Al-Ahdal: Salaam Alaikum. Allah’s mercy and blessings upon you. Hello to you all. I’d like to thank Mukhtar Al-Sharafi and Amal. I’d like to thank all the journalist and you as well. It’s true that I ran away from my family. I can’t live with them anymore. Enough. I want to go live with my uncle. What about the innocence of childhood? What have the children done wrong? Why do you marry them off like that?
I managed to solve my problem, but some innocent children can’t solve theirs, and they might die, commit suicide, or do whatever comes to mind. They’re just kids. What do they know? They didn’t have time to study, or anything. It’s not our fault. I’m not the only one. It can happen to any child. There are many cases like that. Some children decide to throw themselves into the sea. They’re dead now. This is not normal for innocent children.
It’s true that I fled to my uncle, but he wasn’t home. So I called Abd Al-Jabbar to come and get me. Abd Al-Jabbar sent me a woman to travel with her back to Al-Hudaydah. When my uncle heard about it all, he came for me. I filed a complaint with the police against my mother. I told them that I am only 11 years old and she wants to marry me off.
I would have had no life, no education. Don’t they have any compassion? What kind of upbringing did they get?
I’m better off dead. I’d rather die. I’d rather live with my uncle than with these people. They threatened to kill me if I went to my uncle. What kind of people threaten their children like that? Would it make you happy to marry me off against my will? Go ahead and marry me off. I’ll kill myself, just like that. I won’t go back to live with them. I won’t.
They have killed our dreams. They have killed everything inside us. There’s nothing left. This is no upbringing. This is criminal, simply criminal.
My maternal aunt was 14 years old. She lasted one year with her husband, and she poured gasoline over herself and set herself on fire. She died. He would beat her with metal [chains]. He would get drunk. Would it make you happy to marry me off?!
My mother, my family, believe me when I say: I’m done with you. You’ve ruined my dreams.
The importance of the discovery led to the rejection of a proposal to build a new neighborhood close to the site.
The Jerusalem Post, July 18: A joint excavation led by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Israel Antiquities Authorities discovered two of the largest structures ever uncovered from the Kingdom of Judea, the Israel Antiquities Authorities announced on Thursday.
Researchers Prof. Yossi Garfinkel and Saar Ganor identified one of the structures as a palace of King David, while the other as a large storage structure for the kingdom.
The excavation, which lasted seven years, gives evidence to state building and administrative organization during the time of King David.
According to Garfinkel and Ganor, “The ruins are the best example to date of the uncovered fortress city of King David,” giving researchers a step up in understanding the origins of the kingdom of Judah.
“This is indisputable proof of the existence of a central authority in Judah during the time of King David,” the archaeologists said.
Until now, no palaces were clearly attributable to the early tenth century BC. According to the archeologists, the site, named ‘Khirbet Qeiyafa’, was probably destroyed in a battle against the Philistines in 980 BC.
Recent excavations at Khirbet Qeiyafa, the first early Judean city to be dated by 14C, clearly indicate a well planned fortified city in Judah as early as the late 11th-early 10th centuries BC. This new data has far reaching implication for archaeology, history and biblical studies.
Khirbet Qeiyafa is located 30 km southwest of Jerusalem, on the summit of a hill that borders the Elah Valley on the north. This is a key strategic location in the biblical Kingdom of Judah, on the main road from Philistia and the Coastal Plain to Jerusalem and Hebron in the hill country. The city was constructed on bedrock, 2.3 hectares in area, surrounded by massive fortifications of megalithic stones. Five seasons of excavation were carried out in 2007-2011, five areas of the site (Areas A-E) were examined, and nearly 20% of the city has been uncovered. The expedition excavated 200 m of the city wall, two gates, a pillar building and 10 houses. In this area one of the world’s most famous battles took place, the battle between David and Goliath.
In Islam the victim of rape is to blame, for she has sullied the family’s honor by engaging in sexual immorality. The fact that it was forced upon her makes no difference at all.
Think this is only something that greasy Islamophobes say?
Think again. We have seen a Muslim rape victim ostracized in India; the charging of a rape victim in Pakistan with adultery; Islamic clerics in Pakistan opposing attempts to end the equating of rape with adultery; a rape victim marrying her attacker in order to avoid being shunned; another rape victim converting to Islam in order to marry her attacker for the same reason; the sentencing of a victim of gang rape in Saudi Arabia to 200 lashes; the sentencing of another victim of gang-rape, a pregnant woman, to 100 lashes; the stoning of a rape victim in Somalia; nine-year-old rape victims in Iran rejected by their families and living on the streets; a Muslim rape victim in India ordered by Islamic clerics to leave her husband; a rape victim in Jordan murdered by her uncle to cleanse the family’s honor; and on and on.
“Norwegian woman who reported being raped in Dubai is jailed for 16 months,” by Sara Malm for the Daily Mail, July 17:
A young Norwegian woman has been sentenced to 16 months in jail after she reported a rape in Dubai.
The 25-year-old was in the United Arab Emirates on a business trip when she was raped and reported the assault to the local police.
Dubai police did not believe her, and instead took her passport and jailed her on suspicion of having had sex outside marriage.
The Norwegian woman reported the sexual assault in March this year, after which she had to spend days in a cell before she was allowed to use a telephone.
With the help of family members, the Norwegian consulate was able to negotiate a release and she has been living under the protection of the Norwegian Sailor’s Church until her sentencing this week.
‘I received the harshest sentence for sex outside marriage, harshest sentence for drinking alcohol and on top of that I was found guilty of perjury,’ the woman told Verdens Gang.
‘It is a terrible situation she is in,’ said Gisle Meling, the priest at the Norwegian Sailor’s Church.
‘We are very surprised and had hoped it would go another way, but we live in a country which has a justice system which draws its conclusions with the help of Sharia law.’
She was sentenced to one year and four months in jail but as Norway has no extradition treaty with Dubai, her future is uncertain.
The young Norwegian woman’s story is not unique.
Earlier this year Australian Alicia Gali, 27, spoke of how she was thrown in a Dubai jail for eight months after she reported a rape.
Miss Gali was working at hotel chain Starwood when her drink was spiked in the staff bar.
She awoke to find that three colleagues had raped her, but when she went to a hospital for help, they turned her over to the police and she was charged with illicit sex outside marriage.
Under UAE law, rapists can only be convicted if either the perpetrator confesses or if four adult Muslim males witness the crime.
Under the Sharia-influenced laws, sex before marriage is completely forbidden and an unmarried couple holding hands in public can be jailed.
Foreigners jailed in Dubai are deported immediately after completing their sentences.
Around 32,000 people are expected to pack the stands, with thousands of Jewish athletes from 77 countries to march around the stadium as part of the Parade of Nations.
President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will be among the numerous local and foreign dignitaries present at the ceremony.
Maccabiah 2013 will be the largest in history, with over 9,000 athletes to take part in the competitions across the country over the next two weeks.
SOME CURRENT SECURITY THREATS STEM FROM AMERICA’S PAST HUMAN RIGHTS PRACTICES (2003)
“There is a realization that some portion of our security threat now is linked to our human rights practices in the past. Those could include human rights abuses committed by past administrations…or it could be bystanding in the face of genocide.”
“It is clear the ways in which having a foreign policy that is often antithetical to our values or at best is inconsiderate of our values, how it actually comes back and harms U.S. interests in the long term.”
“Some of the resentment toward the United States is born simply of this gross military, economic and cultural supremacy and hegemony, but a lot of it is based also on things that we do as a country.”
WAR ON TERROR IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR ABETTING POSSIBLE GENOCIDE BY NATIONS LIKE RUSSIA (2002)
“Look at what we’re doing in the War on Terror. We’re about to partner with regimes that if they’re not committing genocide they are certainly committing systematic atrocities against their people. Will somebody else write a book about that and say that we abetted the Russian genocide against the Chechens because we were fighting a war on terror and needed Putin on our side? Maybe. But we now, because we’re living in the time, understand our mindset and why we’re doing it. I don’t think we should excuse it. I think we should change our policy.”
AMERICA SHOULD ACCEPT THE AUTHORITY OF THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT (2003)
“Probably the court will end up functioning for a while, hopefully not in a way that shows (U.S) our neglect, that is hopefully it functions properly, judiciously, you know, in a politically sensible way, not making frivolous charges against, you know, the United States — frivolous charges — other kinds of charges it is well entitled to make.”
U.N. SECURITY COUNCIL NEEDS A SHAKEUP — AND PERMANENT ISLAMIC MEMBER (2004)
“If the war on terrorism is the defining event of our time, can we really persist in having no country from the Middle East, no country with much of an Islamic tradition at all, represented on the Security Council in any kind of permanent way?”
“There are lots of things we could do. We could decide that the Security Council no longer has the legitimacy that we once gave it…maybe the Secretary General himself has to be the authorizer.”
